The Department of Sustainable Development and Sustainable Living Podcast announce a series of interviews on the 2030 Agenda during European Sustainable Development Week
Today, 18 September, marks the start of European Sustainable Development Week 2026 (ESDW). On this occasion, the Department of Sustainable Development, in partnership with Sustainable Living Podcast, is launching the special interview series Agenda 2030: From Objectives to Implementation, an editorial project exploring how the 2030 Agenda translates into public policies, economic decisions and tangible change in Romania.
The first episode, dedicated to Romania’s position in relation to the 2030 Agenda objectives, features László Borbély, State Counsellor and Coordinator of the Department of Sustainable Development.

European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) takes place in 2026 from 18 September to 8 October, providing a European platform for initiatives supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The editorial series Agenda 2030: From Objectives to Implementation is officially registered in the ESDW 2026 programme.
The first episode of the series, Agenda 2030: Where Does Romania Stand, with Less Than Four Years to Go?, features László Borbély, State Counsellor and Coordinator of the Department of Sustainable Development.
The conversation starts from an essential question: almost a decade after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, how much of Romania’s commitments have actually translated into policies, budgets, public decisions and visible changes in everyday life?
Agenda 2030: From Objectives to Implementation will bring together perspectives from the Department of Sustainable Development, the European Commission, the Embassy of Sweden in Romania, the Embassy of Finland in Romania, the Coalition for Circular Economy – CERC, and the National Battery Recycling System Association – SNRB.
The series will follow three main directions: Romania’s position in relation to the 2030 Agenda objectives; the impact of European sustainability policies and regulations on Romania’s business environment; and the transition from public policy to implementation and tangible results in society.
The aim of the series is to bring the 2030 Agenda closer to Romania’s economic and social realities and to translate complex public policy and European legislation topics into language that is relevant to businesses, local authorities and citizens.
Although the official period of European Sustainable Development Week 2026 ends on 8 October, the editorial series Agenda 2030: From Objectives to Implementation will continue until the end of October, with further conversations and materials dedicated to these three areas.
The first episode will be available from 18 September at 09:00 on SustainableLiving.ro, YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
